Perfectly situated in Guernsey’s capital, the newly refurbished four-star Duke of Richmond Hotel boasts fantastic views of the harbor and neighbouring islands of Herm and Sark. Following an extensive update, the hotel needed a finishing touch to ensure its entrance was as impressive as the luxurious boutique interior. Red Carnation Hotels Projects Director Brian Brennan approached us to create a curved entrance canopy, similar in style to one we had previously supplied to another Red Carnation Hotel, Rubens at the Palace in London. Designed, manufactured and installed by our in-house architectural metalwork team, the impressive canopy was manufactured from mild steel and aluminum section with toughened safety glass infill panels. We also incorporated a cast aluminum cresting and spandrel brackets and a rainwater gutter. The structure was pre-treated with a durable coastal specification polyester powder coat prior to delivery and installation. The decorative elements used were ATDCCR10A circle spandrel brackets and the ATDCFR22A alumininum cresting. We also fabricated the decorative corner posts, which were completed with spherical finials. The canopy measured approximately 6m long with a projection of 1.5m. Installed bang on schedule for the reopening of the hotel, Projects Director Brian Brennan was delighted with the finished canopy. Brian commented: “Andy Thornton’s Architectural Metalwork department delivered another fantastic result. The canopy makes the entrance to our hotel an attractive, eye-catching feature.” Visit andythornton.com today.
