Bradford-based rotomoulding specialist, Francis Ward, is challenging students on the BA(Hons) Design Product course at Leeds Metropolitan University with a brief to design solely for the process of rotomoulding, as part of their final year project.
Leeds Met students with Francis Ward MD Jonathan WurrThe company’s Managing Director Jonathan Wurr will be instrumental in helping guide the projects by providing feedback at key points in the design process. Students have also benefitted from a visit to the Bradford based factory, where they experienced first hand the manufacturing process, and the pressure of presentations in the boardroom!
Course Leader Andrew DuFeu, commented: “During the final year of the course we aim to present the students with a 'real life' client brief generated from outside the University, preferably by a local company. This gives the students an authentic learning experience, which adds industry insights and a level of professionalism to their study.
Francis Ward has generated an interesting brief which challenges our students and provides a process focus for the project, yet still encourages creative responses.”
Jonathan added: “We were delighted to be asked by the University to be involved in the Design Product course. It’s encouraging to know that students are interested in rotomoulding, and the products that can be achieved using this manufacturing process. We look forward to showing them round our facilities, and seeing their ideas.”
