PRESS RELEASE A MOTHER of three is bringing allergy-friendly food to the masses by opening weekly market stall. Helen Pengelly says that having a market stall where the public can browse and stop at their leisure will encourage people to give free-from food a try. Helen, from Worthing, hopes they will realise that just because something is dairy or gluten free doesn’t mean it is lacking in taste. She said: “This stall will give people a chance to really see what allergy-friendly food is all about. They don’t have to have special dietary needs to try it and to realise it is just as tasty as the normal versions. “Everyone knows someone who suffers from some sort of food intolerance or allergy. The food on offer on my stall allows people to eat all the things they love without compromising on taste or quality.” Helen, who herself has Coeliac Disease, an intolerance to gluten which can cause a range of health problems, will be hosting the stall at Worthing Market every Wednesday. It is an extension of her current business Johnsons Dietary Provisions, which she set up in 2005 as a one-stop service offering allergy-friendly foods in one place. She came up with the idea after growing increasingly frustrated at the limited ranges stocked in supermarkets and having to traipse to several different stores before finding what she wanted. As well as running the stall, Helen offers an internet mail order service with goods being delivered throughout the country and Europe. She is also launching a service where people can order online or over the phone by Sunday night, then pick their orders up from her stall at Worthing Market on Wednesdays. She said: “I am trying to be as flexible as possible and offer customers several different options – they can either come to the stall and buy direct, pick their pre-ordered goods up from me or have them delivered direct to their door. “It should take the hassle out of shopping for the many thousands of people out there who suffer from some sort of food allergy or intolerance. Worthing Market takes place along Montague Street from 9am to 5pm every Wednesday. There are also plenty of vegan products on offer. ·A study by Yorktest in 2007 claimed up to 12 million Britons are thought to have a food intolerance although only a quarter of those are medically diagnosed. Approximately one in 100 people is thought to have Coeliac Disease – an estimated 15,000 in Sussex alone. ·For further information or images please contact Helen Pengelly on 0800 688 8969
