The purpose of this course is to equip the cyclist first aider with the necessary skills, knowledge and confidence to carry out the initial assessment and management of first aid emergencies related to cycling. Cyclists have a high incidence of road accidents, spinal injuries, head injuries and serious fractures and first aid given at the scene can make a real difference to the outcome of the patient. Cyclists are often in locations remote to emergency medical services and therefore need skills that are not normally available on a workplace first aid course. Potential First Aiders should possess an aptitude to absorb knowledge & skills, be able to cope with stressful and physically demanding situations.
