Talk: ‘Kensho’ - Knowing your True nature - A discussion (with practical exercises) on Zen practice focussed on discovering you.
Speaker: Sean Rinryu Collins
Sean gained his qualifications to teach Zen Meditation and Mindfulness under the instruction of Julian Daizan Skinner, the first Englishman to achieve the status of Zen master in the Rinzai Zen tradition.
Sean’s award winning work with people in the business world demonstrates how secular Zen practice can bring benefits to a diverse range of individuals.
This afternoon Sean will help us to come closer to our true nature by exploring Kensho Zen.
Kensho is concerned with true discovery and means ‘to know your true nature’ and to experience the beauty and clarity this brings. Sean will gently introduce tools to bring us closer to this discovery including exercises which we can practise together and at home.
The foundational Zen master of the Ronzai school lineage to which Sean belongs as a Zen teacher is Master Rinzai. Master Rinzai said: ‘There is a true person of no rank coming and going through the gates of your senses.
New students who have not yet witnessed this look, look’. This
particular very short piece of instruction is probably his foundational teaching.
To become a true person of no rank. This is Kensho!
Cost: £10 per person.
