Sky and Landscape: Messages of Sacred Space!
Saturday 2nd April - 10.30am - 4.00pm (Hall)
Day workshop with Lindsay Gladstone D.F.Astrol.S. and Ben Rovers.
Lindsay and Ben are professional astrologers and they have both recently completed their M.A. studies in Myth, Cosmology and the Sacred at Canterbury Christ Church University.
Prehistoric stone circles, ancient Egyptian pyramids, the Glastonbury Zodiac; sacred structures and landscapes exist worldwide and they fire our imagination and invite speculation. It is believed that these structures were often orientated towards specific stellar constellations or constructed in order to herald and celebrate the arrival of the four seasons.
Based on the fieldwork and writings of the late Irene Earis M.A., in the morning session Lindsay will introduce the group to the discipline of archaeoastronomy and explain how it can assist in interpreting the inherent richness of cultural symbolism and star religions that the sacred relationship of sky and landscape engenders.
In the afternoon session Ben will guide the group through a series of symbolic constellations.
A technique that, through the power of the creative imagination, enables the participants to personally experience the mysterious presence of these sites, without actually visiting them.
Cost: £40.00 (booked in advance)
