Varicocele Embolisation is a minimally invasive non-surgical day case treatment offered by Dr. Paul Crowe, Consultant Interventional Radiologist, for testicular varicocele. Varicoceles are a condition caused by varicose veins around the testicle which may present as a lump or swelling, can cause pain or discomfort and can be associated with male subfertility.

An initial assessment includes an out-patient ultrasound scan to confirm the presence of varicose veins and to exclude more serious conditions such as testicular cancer. If suitable, embolisation treatment can be arranged at either the BMI Priory Hospital in Birmingham or at the Princess Grace Hospital in London. The procedure is performed under x-ray guidance, takes about 30 minutes and allows early return to normal activities. It is covered by most private health insurers.
