British Studio Pottery and Ceramics. David Fry is an award winning studio potter practicing for over 40 years, and has exhibited widely in the UK and abroad and featured in many specialist publications. His studio is based in Newcastle-upon-Tyne in North-East England. The aim of his work is to produce beautiful pots that can be loved and used. His method of working in high fired stoneware and the nature of the kiln he designed and built and its firing makes every piece a unique work. His inspiration comes from the glazes, ideas and simple forms of the early ceramics from Japan, China and Korea, together with a love of English Mediaeval pottery. He has spent many years studying and working out recipes for the ancient oriental glazes to which he added his own intuition to increase their depth and beauty, achieving layers of colour within colour. He has developed a unique range of Flambe’, Chun, Jun, Wood Ash, Copper Red, Lang-Yao, Shino, Iron Blues and Celadon glazes . For further inform
