Tai chi (or tai chi chuan) originated in China and is practised not only in order to improve fitness, but also for health and well-being.   Tai chi is performed using a series of movements which flow into each other and has been described as a form of moving meditation.
Tai chi teaches inner strength while toning muscles, increases flexibility and boosts immunity.   Tai chi is also said to reduce stress, store energy and increase body awareness.   Tai chi should help to improve balance and co-ordination.
There have been numerous studies into the health benefits of tai chi including arthritis, low bone density, hypertension, sleep problems, stroke,  etc.
At Virginia Water Tai Chi Club we practise Yang style tai chi.   We are a small, friendly club and would welcome anyone interested in learning Tai Chi and its principles and concepts.
