Consulting Psychology & Psychiatry Services (CPPS)
assessment, Stress Counselling, Panic Attacks
CPPS offers confidential diagnostic assessments, psychological and psychiatric consultations and treatments to people for a wide range of mental health and wellbeing problems.
Clinical Psychologists in CPPS offer psychological assessments and therapeutic interventions to individuals, as well as support to families and carers if required. Some therapies are delivered in small groups. The section on therapies gives information on the main types of psychological therapies we offer. We also offer a range of time limited interventions for families - to help with understanding psychological problems, problem solving and coping. These sessions offer a safe space to people to express their concerns and address the impact that the stress of psychological problems can have on the wider family unit.
Psychiatrists in CPPS team offer initial diagnostic assessments of mental illness, recommend appropriate treatment by medications, and monitor progress under medication treatments. If required they can also provide second opinions. After initial assessment or during treatment, if intensive 24/7 treatment is indicated Psychiatrists can refer patients for hospital care.
• CPPS can also offer services to employers, solicitors and Social Services commissioning Psychiatric/Psychological assessments.
• CPPS can also call upon other professionals such as social workers and specialist nursing staff to provide their expertise when appropriate.
All psychological and psychiatric treatments follow NICE (National Institute of Clinical Excellence) guidelines.
