Occupational Therapy is a health and social care profession. Occupational therapists use a client centred approach to promote independent function in all aspects of a person’s life through the therapeutic use of everyday activities.
Paediatric Occupational Therapy
Occupational therapists working in paediatrics help children to develop, maintain or restore skills in the areas of self-care, school work and play as these are a child’s main areas of occupation. Children may present with difficulties in one or more of the following areas:
•Motor co-ordination skills such as riding a bike
•Fine motor skills including handwriting
•Independence with self-care activities such as dressing
•Visual perception skills
•Sensory processing skills
