The EMT-I course and training is designed to provide additional knowledge and skills in specific aspects of advanced life support.
Building on the skills and knowledge gained on the EMT-B course, further training will be provided in the areas of advanced airway management, patient assessment, drug administration, IV therapy, trauma and medical pre-hospital emergency care.
To remain registered and qualified at this grade, attendance at our 3 day annual recertification course, which includes a CPR/AED update is required together with evidence of participants on-going CPD.
Up to one month of pre-course learning followed by an eleven day course consisting of theory and scenario based practical work. The summative assessment takes place on day eleven.

Special populations and considerations
Subject to assessment, all participants will be awarded an EMT-I certificate approved by the Australasian Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (AREMT). This qualification is valid for one year (subject to meeting annual recertification requirements) and is linked to your international registration as an EMT-I.
