New from Summit Systems comes a range of ATEX certified bulk handling systems for Plastics, Chemicals, Food, Pharmaceuticals, Colours & Coatings, Metal powders, Small Parts and many other applications.   Using their wide experience from the plastics and recycling industries, Summit have chosen to broaden their portfolio with this range of vacuum conveyors designed specifically to excel in the areas of economy, quality and cost-performance-ratio.   These vacuum conveyors will transport the most diverse materials such as powder, dust, pigments, flakes, granulated material, tablets, capsules, small parts etc. in a suction air stream under vacuum through hoses or pipes.   Of stainless steel modular design, the equipment ensures rapid product change on the one hand, whilst fulfilling the high requirements for hygiene with chemical, pharmaceutical and food applications on the other. Additionally, the modular feature allows individual customisation of the conveying system, a task for which Summit Systems are renowned.   In operation, the vacuum pump generates a vacuum in the vacuum conveyor’s separator tank. Air rushes in through the hose/pipe and the suction inlet from the feeding point. The bulk material is aspirated and then carried in this air stream. Inside the separator tank a filter module separates air and product. The transported material is kept and collected in the separator. For fine dust, a cyclone element inserted into the separator provides higher transportation capacities due to the reduced load of the filter elements. When the separator is filled with product, the vacuum pump switches off. Within the vacuum conveyor the pressure is balanced to the surrounding area within tenths of a second. The separated material discharges from the vacuum conveyor through the discharge element and falls directly into the unit or tank to be charged. During discharge of material the filter module is automatically cleaned by an air shock system. The occasional filter cake is released from the filter unit. Summit can also offer piston vibrators and fluidising units to improve discharging of sticky or highly bridging bulk materials.  After unloading the product the discharge element closes and the complete conveying cycle repeats.
Summit Managing Director; Sam Hill, is enthusiastic about the increase in the company’s product offering. “High specification vacuum conveying with the sought after ATEX approval is a natural progression for us, we have chosen to provide a high quality range which will be backed by our top class installation and maintenance team” he says.
