Further Investment at Instarmac Increases Output Efficiency by 35%
Quality Management System, Innovation Research
Multi- award winning Instarmac, home to the Ultracrete, Ultrascape, Ultra Tile and Ultra Floor brands, has recently made a £200,000 investment in one of its production lines at its manufacturing facility in Staffordshire.
Line 9, responsible for preparing the latex liquid bottles that accompany the two part levelling compounds for the Ultra Floor brand and liquid primers for both Ultra Floor and Ultra Tile, has recently had a new robot installed to help fill and pack the plastic bottles.
The automated part of the line now erects the boxes, lifts the filled bottles into the boxes, seals the boxes and stacks them onto pallets of powder, or straight onto pallets, in the required configurations and quantities.
The modifications to the line mean that it can now be run as a one man process, as opposed to two. In the meantime, the second operative has been seconded to other zones within the production department further enhancing the multi-skill levels of those areas.
These recent improvements have already assisted in increasing output efficiency by 35%; that equates to an additional 1300 units being produced per 8 hour day!
Instarmac strives to maintain a high standard of management systems and processes, ensuring they effectively meet their objectives and always work towards continual improvement. This latest investment is certainly testament to a company who shows ongoing commitment to lean efficiency and business management. Instarmac’s already award-winning delivery service will also benefit from reduced order waiting times due to the improved output efficiency.
