Ultracrete Envirobed has proven its environmental benefits over traditional resin based materials, during the restoration of an old station along the Teversal Trail in Nottinghamshire.
Since closure, nature has colonised the track beds, helping to create the attractive trails that are in use today. Restoration work along the rail routes to restore historic areas of interest has been taking place by Nottinghamshire County Council to provide a tranquil and peaceful location for members of the public to relax and enjoy.
Ensuring faultless restoration of current features along the trails has been imperative to the County Council. A small section of Teversal Manor Station including 18 linear meters of old platform was one of the areas Nottinghamshire County Council wished to restore. The original bull nosed edging stones from the platform were to be restored and re-used. Some of the stones had the original stone masons mark on them making them very valuable to the local area.
Rory Ashcroft, Area Sales Manger for Ultracrete in the North East of England, met with Mark Randell to discuss possible products to use in the restoration. Mark is Site Manager for Ashfield District Council’s Highways Service who are carrying out the work on behalf of Nottinghamshire County Council. After consulting about a suitable material for this project Rory recommended Ultracrete Envirobed over a resin based product as an alternative due to its environmental and health & safety qualities.
