A luxury Sutton Coldfield private house anhydrite kitchen floor tiled using Ultra Tile materials.
Tony Routley of A.R. Ceramics Ltd. completed tiling applications at the luxury privately owned new build house in Sutton Coldfield using Ultra Tile ProFlex SP+ES and FlexJoint.
The main tiling application was onto the house’s kitchen floor that was an anhydrite screed. Some see anhydrite as an instant problem when beginning any floor tiling project, acting with uncertainty over surface preparation techniques. Following Ultra Tile’s guidance and product recommendations Tony completed the application with ease.
An extract from an anhydrite technical article written by Ultra Tile and Lafarge states: “…the surface must firstly be primed with a calcium sulphate screed compatible primer…Instarmac state that an acrylic based primer such as, Ultra Floor Prime IT AR is most appropriate. Such primers also act as a separating barrier between the calcium sulphate and ordinary Portland cement based tile adhesive.”
Ultra Floor Prime IT AR was therefore applied to the substrate first of all. The powder adhesive Ultra Tile ProFlex SP+ES was then used to fix large format marble tiles supplied by Alistair Mackintosh.
ProFlex SP+ES is the brand’s extended set single part flexible floor and wall tile adhesive, suitable for interior/exterior use and wet and dry conditions. Specially formulated with extended workability for large format and intricate porcelain, ceramic and natural stone tile work, with exceptional adhesion and flexural capacity, it is ideal for situations where vibration may occur.
Ultra Tile ProFlex SP+ES conforms to BS EN 12004 C2ET and BS EN 12002 S1, is polymer modified and can be used in conjunction with underfloor heating systems. The product has an application thickness of 3-20mm and is ready to take light foot traffic 16 hours after application.
The floor was then grouted using Ultra Tile FlexJoint. Suitable for joint widths from 1mm to 20mm FlexJoint is simple to use and available in a choice of colours.
FlexJoint is specially formulated to provide a hygienic finish that is mould resistant and water repellent.
A.R. Ceramics Ltd. then went on to tile the six bathrooms within the house before the residents moved in.
