An Example COSHH Assessment form for cement. COSHH stands for Control Of Substances Hazardous to Health, and most construction contractors and other industries are requesting COSHH assessments where health risks may arise from employees coming into contact with substances that may be hazardous. The regulations define substances as solid, liquid, gas or vapour, including micro-organisms, products that are supplied and by products that have been produced due to the task in hand. It is important to note that the regs don’t cover all substances, including: · Lead · Asbestos · Radioactive substances They do cover: · Supplied substances used to carry out a task (eg paint, detergent, cement) · Produced substances generated from performing a task (eg fumes from soldering) · Substances that naturally occur (e.g. dust) · Biological agents such as bacteria and other micro-organisms. One of the main benefits of our documents is that they are not in PDF or image format. Instead we have opted for Word documents that are editable. Furthermore, all documents are saved in 97 -2003 format which means that even if you are using an old version of Word or a different editor, you will be able to open and amend the document as you feel fit. The advantage of this is that you can make the document specific to you and your needs by inserting your company name, logo, contract details, site address etc..
