EMSc (UK) Ltd, green tech manufacturer of the innovative Star® range of energy saving products, was pleased to welcome the Lord Mayor of Sheffield, together with Nick Clegg, Liberal Democrat Sheffield Hallam MP and Deputy Prime Minister, to the company’s new international headquarters in Sheffield on Friday 1st February.
As well as housing a world class research and development centre, the new facility also includes a manufacturing plant that includes all the processes involved in developing the company’s market leading products: winding, curing, assembly and testing. In total the new facility will provide an operational space totalling 23,620 sq ft, which will allow the company to grow and meet the developing demand for its products.
Despite a challenging economic climate, EMSc (UK) Ltd continues to experience significant growth, not only in the UK, but across the world. EMSc (UK) Ltd’s energy saving products have been installed in a wide variety of public sector and private sector sites including the NHS, Palace of Westminster, Whitbread Group and ASDA.
Dignitaries, customers, partners, associates, distributors and staff from EMSc (UK) Ltd’s international offices, who were invited to the launch, were given a guided tour of the facility, during which they also saw EMSc (UK) Ltd’s latest innovative product Powerstar HV MAX.
A low-loss amorphous core HV transformer that allows for 11,000V input and electronically regulated 380V (or user regulated) output, Powerstar HV MAX is the only product of it’s kind available on the market. The new product allows companies that already own a high voltage distribution transformer to save costs and reduce carbon emissions at the earliest point.
Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg commented, “EMSc UK Ltd are a great example of another outstanding local business who are exporting the ‘Made in Sheffield’ brand throughout the World. I’m hugely impressed by their products and welcome the fact that their research, development, sourcing and manufacturing is all done right here in the UK.”
“Going green is good for the economy and good for climate change. The UK green sector is a success story - it is the sixth largest in the world and has a crucial part to play in building a strong economy.”
Dr. Alex Mardapittas managing director EMSc (UK) Ltd commented, “The move to a new, larger facility is an important step for us, as it will allow us to continue manufacturing our products in the UK, including our latest addition Powerstar HV MAX. It will also give us the capacity to grow our team of people.”
He added, “Whilst we recognise the worldwide economy is experiencing a sustained period of insecurity and instability, it remains an exciting time for EMSc, as we continue to escalate our activities and expand, whilst always remaining adaptable and customer focused.”
“As a company we are firmly behind the belief that manufacturing represents a major opportunity to kick-start the UK economy. ‘Made in the UK’ is a key marketing differentiator and we hope our success will help inspire other manufacturing companies and innovations.”
