Heavy duty slate veneer for a heavy duty application
natural stone, wall tiles, slate tiles
When it comes to the interior of a domestic dwelling the stairway is probably one of the areas that receives most of heavy traffic, especially when things are being carried up and down.
A new addition to the Flexistone range of real stone veneers is ideal for this application.
As well as it’s very flexible sandstone, Flexistone now also offers real slate veneers. Whilst not having the same flexibility, the slate veneer which comes either in a roll or on a GRP type backing can still be curved.
Clearly, one of the advantages of either of these veneers is the weight to size ratio. Whereas a section in stone would perhaps be 25 - 30mm thick with all that that implies to the weight and the fixing method, the Flexistone range of veneers are only about 3-4mm thick for the sandstone and 2-3mm for the slate, and can be adhered using ordinary adhesives.
A recent application called for the stairwell on a three-storey house to be clad in slate. Due to its lightweight nature the slate could be adhered to the skimmed plasterboard wall without any problem at all, but the finished effect was of solid slate panels.
So if you have an application that you think would look better in slate or sandstone why not give us a call.
