Management of Change: There is an expectation that by following set procedures a team, service or organisation will be transformed into a different team, service or organisation. Anyone who has as much experience as we do at IamHR knows that there is so much more to it than that. By utilising the services of an independent consultant to manage your management of change project you can tap into our experience and skills as well as progress your project quickly. Simple Change A simple change to an individual’s role or a group of roles in a team structure can be a straight forward change of contract with IamHR’s involvement, as long as there is no significant change, adequate consultation, notice and agreement to vary the terms of the contract (within reason). Wider Change Through using IamHR wider change involving revisions to whole service structures, job descriptions, pay, location and/or varying other contract terms can be just as simple in practical terms as simple change (i.e. you follow the same steps) but are so much more disruptive to the working environment. Getting it right is much less likely to impact on the morale and feeling of security of individuals in your teams and in turn on your productivity levels. Managing wider change is a project in practical terms but requires more than project management skills. The individual (s) leading the change need to have a balance of those skills as well as being able to communicate effectively with individuals impacted by the change; to give reassurances, be open and transparent about the changes and to seek to get a buy in to the reasons for the changes. Ultimately achieving changes to ways of working not just changes to organisational structures. Change Approaches There are new ways of approaching change springing up all the time. At IamhHRwe have been trained in many of these change approaches and feel rather than brand our approach with just one of these, because they all have their benefits and flaws, we take the best from each and use this to provide you with a bespoke approach that suits what you want to achieve as an organisation and how much cultural change you want to achieve. Processes and Procedures At IamHR we have significant experience of managing change in line with different organisation’s processes and procedures. We always review these in line with legislative and best practice requirements. We follow your agreed processes and procedures as long as they are legally compliant, ensuring we progress change projects as quickly and as smoothly as we can. Trade Unions At IamHR we have worked in partnership with trade unions for a number of years. This is always our preferred approach when managing change, as trade unions have a wealth of knowledge to contribute. We have significant experience of negotiating agreement with trade unions as well as consulting with employees both informally and formally Lead Consultant Lesley Rossiter, our lead consultant, is a chartered member of the CIPD with 10 years experience in this field as well as an MBA, which included modules on change management and her dissertation on change management. Lesley is also a Prince2 practitioner. Lesley has prepared, designed, consulted on and implemented significant levels of organisational change. Even if Lesley is not your allocated consultant she oversees all management of change and ensures consultants commissioned to manage a change project within your organisation are trained, experienced and confident enough to deliver the standards that IamHR are renowned for.
