In the past few years Mike has increasingly been called on to prepare independent reports for solicitors, typically in the context of Mental Health Tribunals and Welfare Guardianship issues, though also a range of other issues, including: planning enquiry, contested adoption proceedings, challenge to withdrawal of Care Commission registration, and judicial reviiew proceedings in relation to Probation Service management of after care of a disabled offender.

As well as producing independent reports, Mike has assisted solicitors in identifying and recruiting other expert witnesses and independent reporters from a range of backgrounds. Mike is currently working on development of a social enterprise business to provide support to solicitors and agencies wishing to identify specific expertise from across the range of professional disciplines.

Mike works with a number of legal firms on a regular basis, and has undertaken commissions for the following:

Anderson Strathern, Edinburgh

Cheshire Legal Services, Wakefield

Innes Johnston and Co, Glenrothes and Kirkcaldy

Hughes Walker, Edinburgh

MacLennan Adam Davies, Ayr
