He's Huge, He's Seasonal and He is one of a kind - welcome to the most amazing Turkey pin ever!  This whopping  Vintage Turkey Brooch measures 4.5 by almost 5 inches in size.  There are more than 200 individual glass stones which have been claw-set by hand to make up this very big bird.  Amongst the jewels used there are faceted foiled stones and open glass crystals in a range of naturalistic colours - from the white diamantes that tip the tail to the pink stones that adorn the little dangle under his beak! (And yes, that dangle moves - what fun!). So we have topaz browns, citrine yellows, peridot and emerald  greens, black, orange, red, pink white and a kind of light brown too.  These diamante or paste gems are wonderful shapes - round, square, navette, oval,  baguette and even a teardrop or two.  The largest jewel measures 2cms in length and the smallest is a couple of millimetres in diameter.  The brooch appears to be a brassy gold metal which was once silvered over but has lost some of that silvering.  There is a clue to the maker - on the back there is a little applied oval tag with the word 'Papillon' on it.  Is the wonder bird French? I really don't know.  Certainly vintage and possibly from the 1980's there are two words to describe this brooch - Christmas Bling!  See more photos of this very handsome bird .
