Spring has already come to Spain. The wild flowers are coming out all over the mountainside and the swallows are nesting over the back door of the apartment.
Nestled in a secluded valley in the beautiful Sierra de Tejeda range, Casa Joya is the perfect place to relax. Have a barbecue on the terrace with its stunning sea and mountain views or eat in the romantic walled courtyard with its view of Mount Maroma, the highest peak.
You can explore delightful white villages with steep narrow streets decorated with flowers, vines and jasmine, or drive down to the coast and visit Torre del Mar or Nerja with its lovely bay and awe-inspiring Tolkienesque caves. Further east still are unspoilt rocky coves, deserted at certain times of year.
Málaga town is well worth exploring, with its cathedral, fortress, castle and famous Picasso Museum. Within day trip range is Granada with its fabulous Alhambra Palace and Córdoba with its magnificent mosque and ancient Moorish palace.
The house is located in the open countryside and is reached via a well-maintained dirt track, about 1.5 km from the main road. The apartment is attached to the main finca, but completely independent, with its own Moorish walled courtyard with many flowering shrubs and trees, a ceramic chimenea barbecue, wrought iron Moroccan table and chairs, and a delightful fountain.
The accommodation consists of a very spacious studio flat built in the rustic style with en suite bathroom and archway into a well-equipped kitchen.
The bedroom area consists of twin beds with bedside tables and lamps, and a double wardrobe.
The bath room has a walk-in bath and shower, toilet, bidet and mirrored cabinet with lights and electric socket.
The lounge area consists of sofa and armchair, low coffee tables, standard lamps, dining table and chairs, and a carved Spanish dresser. The satellite TV receives all free to air English channels plus Spanish TV, and includes a DVD player. A separate CD player is also provided.
The kitchen is equipped with electric hob, conventional oven with grill, plus a microwave oven, fridge freezer, toaster, filter coffee machine, electric kettle and sufficient crockery, glass ware, cutlery and cooking pots and utensils for four people.
The apartment has its own sun terrace which provides a generous space for loungers, a large wooden table with chairs, and a mobile kettle barbecue.
On the lower terrace the pool (8 x 4m; 1.7m deep) is shared with the owners and looks out over the foothills to the sea. A pool-side sun-bathing area is provided with wrought iron loungers and tables and a cantilever parasol.
There is also a shower and another seating area facing the pool.
Other facilities include free Wi-Fi, shared washing machine and oil-fired central heating. Parasols, loungers, etc. are provided on all the terraces.
All linen is provided, except beach towels. Cot and high chair can be provided on request.
The apartment is an hour’s drive from Málaga airport, half an hour from the coast and 15 minutes from the nearest village with shops and restaurants. There is plenty of parking available.
The apartment is beautiful, you have thought of everything and the extra touches such as the fresh flowers, herbs and wine made it all the more special. I'm sure we will be back and will certainly recommend this spot of paradise to family & friends.

Lovely peaceful spot with beautiful views and fabulous weather. Thoroughly enjoyed trips to Granada (the Alhambra is a must-see - fantastic!). Nerja caves, Frigiliana and many quiet beaches beyond Nerja (even at this time of year). Thanks Charlotte and Steve. Chester.
Thank you so much for all your kindness and generosity. The spectacular setting coupled with glorious weather, oh and absolute peace and stillness have helped two stressed-out teachers unwind, relax and indulge in real 'quality time' which is often hard to find. We have thoroughly enjoyed the company and 'home-from-home' atmosphere you create so well. It's been - in a nutshell - just perfect. Jane and Andria.
