Saturday 13 November 2010, 9am - 5pm.
The Horse and Jockey, Stanford in the Vale, Oxfordshire, SN7 8NN
As you may already know, we are an online only outfit at present with
warehouse storage that is not suitable for lots of visitors. So, we
have come up with the idea of an Open Day and Knit In at our local
We’ll have plenty of wool, yarn, kits, knitting needles and knitting
paraphernalia for you to look at and buy as well as some mini knitting
surgeries throughout the day with Penny Hill. There will also be the
opportunity to try spinning and weaving. At nearby arts centre, The Bullpen, Helen will be holding drop-in Felt Making sessions from 11am-4pm, where
there will also be hand-knitted and woven accessories to purchase.
We invite everyone that comes along to get their needles out and knit
up as many mini pennants as possible, which will all be joined together
to produce one enormous row of bunting, to be auctioned off to raise
money for the Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity.
The Horse and Jockey has a large car park with good access to the light and airy separate
restaurant. There will be a ready and free supply of tea, coffee,
biscuits and cake; the family-run pub also offers great beer, while chef
cooks up some great meals and a rather excellent choice of puddings…
Stanford in the Vale is located between Oxford and Swindon on the
A420 with easy access from the M4, A34 and M40. Oxford is only 25
minutes away by car and there are plenty of other local attractions (the
Uffington White Horse and the Ridgeway are only moments away) for a
non-knitting partner or if you wanted to make a weekend visit.
