As a practice The DCM Practice Ltd. embrace all aspects of the sustainable agenda and we are one of the few practices in the country to boast our own fully qualified EPC Assessor amongst our staff.
In order to begin to design a structure the designer has to be aware of the BREEAM, SBEM and EPC aspects that will influence the building from the very start of the design process. We have challenged the current trends on incorporating renewable energy sources in commercial / industrial buildings by designing a concept named ‘Elucidate’. As with all great ideas this concept is a simple one, and, we can eradicate the requirements for renewable energy by designing an efficient and practical building. This approach is proven and has been found to be acceptable to Local Authorities.
These Elucidate buildings show that for a modest increase in construction costs the energy savings are immense over a 20 year life cycle with pay back coming around very quickly. Using the EPC scale the buildings easily achieve a ‘B’ rating on the energy efficiency chart. Obviously depending on the site and geographic locations BREEAM is influenced but we have consistently achieved a rating of ‘Good’ to ‘Excellent’ on our buildings. The key principles that underpin the Company’s philosophy when considering environmental issues are: ·
The prevention of pollution ·
The conservation of energy and other natural resources ·
Minimising the use of raw materials and the reduction of waste through better design

If you are looking for an innovative and exciting new building your first and last stop has to be The DCM Partnership Ltd!
