This handsome square vintage Stratton compact was named the 'Camera' shape for women who liked a more generous sized compact mirror and powder well for loose powder. As with most compacts of the 'Camera' design, it is finsihed in a gold tone metal, which is hand engine turned with a textured pattern and two black enamel diagonal bands with a delicate gold leaf scroll pattern on the front face. The reverse is hand engine turned with a repeat series of three vertical lines.
To open the compact there is a push catch, which on opening reveals a large very clear mirror that still has the instruction stickers for opening the powder guard. The inner powder guard is also engine turned with a repeat series of four vertical lines and the Stratton in hand' logo with Stratton Made in England in the centre.
Size 8.5cm x 7.5 x 1cm
