As Conservation Surveyors specialising in offering advice on the repair of Listed Buildings and other period and historic houses, we undertake independent inspections of houses for damp issues.  How often does a Valuer for a lender find some apparent dampness and a Condition of the Mortgage advance is for a damp report from a "Specialist Damp Company" who has a profit motive for their comments.  Most damp does not originate from the ground and may not therefore be "Rising".  Indeed, if the dampness comes from somewhere other than the ground, that chemical DPC will have been a waste of money and may have proved detrimental to the building. We undertake survey reports which outline the likely "cause" of the problem and offer advice as to remedial repairs BEFORE attending the symptom.
