The aim of this course is skills acquisition. Tuition is based around set exercises on the less complicated woodworking joints. Emphasis will be on hand cutting and the use of basic machines (ie the pillar drill and router). You will not go home with a completed piece of furniture, but you will leave with the skills to complete one in your own time. Topics covered include:

        - Timber preparation (planing and sawing to a line)
        - Setting out joints using the marking guage and knife
        - The lap joint
        - The mortice and tenon, hand cut and machine cut
        - Edge jointing
        - If there is time we may also look at the use of the biscuit jointer.
