 The 'Inspection and Testing of In-Service Electrical equipment' (usually referred to as Portable Appliance Testing or PAT), was introduced to enable companies and organisations to complywith the Electricity at Work (EAW) Regulations.Over 2,500 people are killed or injured as a result of electrical related incidents each year. Poor electrical installations and faulty electrical appliances can lead to fires or also cause death or injury therefore PAT Testing or Portable Appliance Testing is an important part of any health & safety policy. A Portable Appliance is any piece of equipment with a lead and a 13 Amp plug, i.e. all office equipment, including computers, photocopiers, fridges, microwaves, hoovers, floor cleaners, hand tools etc, transportable equipment (moveable), hand held equipment, stationary equipment or IT equipment.
