Jake: Hello Redkay, Thanks for joinig me in an interview so the WDR readers and listeners can get to know more about you.
Redkay: Hello Jake. You're welcome, I'm glad to get the chance to let the people know more about me.
Jake: What is your biggest influence in your music?
Redkay: Wow, the hardest question at first? This really is hard to answer for me cause you won't believe it, but before I started making music, I listened HipHop only. I didn't like House or Electro at all, so there are no bands who really influenced me for this kind of music. I don't know how, but I started liking Daft Punk and Gigi D'agostino a lot, but I don't do the style of music of one of them at all, so they didn't really influence me.
Jake: That is interesting. Would you say you have any Hip Hop influences in any of your music now or is it pure dance? If you had to be put into a genre what would yours be?
Redkay: Maybe there is some influence by The Black Eyed Peas, because their new tracks are more electro than Hip Hop actually, but as I said, there is no band who really influences me a lot in my music. Well, my genre varies a bit, depending on do I work with someone else or just ideas I just have in my mind. But if you want a specific answer, I'd say Electro-House. I'm also going to do more dirty Electro tracks.
Jake: These days it seems you can dabble in different styles and not stay in one style. Do you like to be experimental in your tracks?
Redkay: Yeah, I really enjoy that, cause I don’t like to do always the same, even if this would be better for the progress of my tracks maybe. I just don’t want people to say “each song of him sounds the same”, that’s why I try do experiment with a few styles at once.
Jake: So how do you feel about joining World Domination Records and having your music distributed world wide?
Redkay: It’s a really good feeling. I’m glad to get this chance and to carry out my plans all over the world. World Domination Records seems to be a great Label so far. I’m also looking forward to work with other artists who already joined World Domination Records, cause they’re all really good, especially Somiak, with who I already worked before quite often.
Jake: You sound very keen and positive. World Domination Records has a vast distribution network with television and radio connections too. A lot of Artists tend not to realise how tough the music industry is and how much time and effort has to go into marketing Artists. How do you feel about pushing yourself forward and where do you see your music in the next 2 years?
Redkay: Well, I like to spend a lot of time with my music. And not only the music I produce, I also like to play instruments or do music in another way. I don’t have a problem with spending most of my time with music, because I really like it. If there are Artists who want to spend less time onto it, it’s okay, but obviously their music seems to be not as important to them, as mine is to me. It’s hard to answer, where I see myself in 2 years, because I am actually a guy who just lives now. I just will try to raise my knowledge about music, become more famous, to call people’s attention on my music and on World Domination Records in general. The most important thing is to improve myself and my music all the time.
Jake: You have a great attitude. Life is tough and so is the music industry but these days with modern technology and the internet anything is possible with hard work and determination.. Online presence is essential for WORLD DOMINATION!...... How do you feel about having your songs on itunes and all the majors??? Exited? Terried?
Redkay: It’s a good feeling, but having them there is one thing. People buying the songs is the another thing. But as I said, I really like to improve my skills and knowledge about music, so it’s important to me, that people can hear what I am doing and give me more feedback. This is easier through ITunes, Amazon and all the majors, so I’m really excited about that.
Jake: I can guarantee being on WDR you will get exposure. Being on a Label gets you recognised! I heard that you want to do collaborations? Its all the rage these days. Are there any WDR Artists you would like to work with or remix? I'm sure I can get it arranged! Hee! Hee!
Redkay: Of course, it’s always a pleasure to remix good songs, and there are a lot of good artists on WDR, so I’m looking forward. Collaborations are always nice, they take more time, but together you have more ideas, and that’s the great thing. Two styles of music get mixed, and the best of each will be taken to do great stuff together. Well, I didn’t contact the other artists yet, but I definitely want to work with Somiak. I already worked with him on 8 songs and I also remixed a few of his songs. His ideas, especially his Synthesizer riffs are great and they always inspire me. I’m sure I will get to know the other artists, so I can work with them as well.
Jake: Yes Somiak is a true talent. I interviewed him recently. Great tracks and remixes! So do you have any new projects planned?
Redkay: Yeah, he really is! Sure, I have a few new projects planned, more Electro / Dirty Electro, as I said before. I also have to finish a few songs with American singers, but I better focus on my Electro tracks.
Jake: It sounds as if you are madly busy right now. I personally want to wish you every success and enjoy the ride on WDR!.................
Redkay: I am, but I like to be busy with music! Thanks, Jake, I definitely will enjoy it.
Watch out for RedKay releases on itunes & all major outlets world wide soon!
