Glass Magic Stained Glass Techniques 2 Day Course
Glass Magic Glass Craft Courses
stained glass, leaded glass, holiday courses
We offer one-day stained-glass courses which are designed to give you a taste of either one of the principal techniques
of glass panel making - copper foil and lead work.
Most of our students who are interested in stained glass choose to do both days so that they get a feel for both skills.
We certainly reccommend this as a way to acquire a good overall knowledge of stained glass.
Copper foil work was developed by Louis Comfort Tiffany towards the end of the 19 Century. He used it to
create stained glass designs which were far more delicate and intricate, and more 3-dimensional, than traditional
leaded work. It is a very versatile technique which can be used to make
lampshades (for which Tiffany is famous) and also terrariums, light-catchers, mirror-surrounds, boxes, clocks - in fact
the list of beautiful stained glass projects you can create with copper foil is practically endless. You will be make a simple light-catcher or terrarium to take home.
The other method of making stained glass panels is traditional lead work, as used to produce beautiful
windows for centuries. On our course in this time-honoured technique you will be able to make a simple
stained glass panel to take home with you.
Courses are held on about 8 weeks and weekends per year - please see the calendar page on our website for available dates.
