Decorative Ceramic Armenian Tile Jerusalem Pottery
Pangea Ceramics & Tiles
This beautifully detailed tile is a fine example of Armenian pottery.
Armenian pottery began centuries ago in the uplands of Turkey. The ceramic tiles and other decorative items were used to beautify the churches in Jerusalem. In the early part of the 20th century, the Armenians were forced to leave Turkey due to persecutions. Many settled in Jerusalem and surrounding areas and have continued to produce this beautiful pottery.
Jerusalem is the only place in the world today where authentic Armenian pottery is still being made.
