We are proud to be launching Worldwise Investor
Worldwise Investor.com is a free to use, information web site that provides investors, financial advisers and fund managers with a single point of reference for thematic, environmental and ethical investment funds, providing performance comparisons and related news.
There are £21.8bn of money invested in the Worldwise Investor group of funds, which represents between 3%-4% of the money invested in the UK in Investment funds. Of this £7.4bn is invested in ethically screened funds, with £15.1bn in thematic funds. (Source: Worldwise Investor statistics 30th September 2011)
The site has been designed with the user in mind to help investors make more educated choices with minimal effort. Information is provided in a consistent format across the 130 funds currently in the Worldwise Investor universe. We hope that advisers and investors will no longer need to waste time searching for information, or comparisons.
The web site categorises funds into several groupings, the main ones being: Clean Energy funds; Water funds; Agriculture funds; Forestry funds; Carbon funds; Multi-thematic funds; Environmental funds; Global Ethical funds; UK Ethical funds; and UK Ethical Fixed Interest funds. These are all linked to what people may identify as ‘sustainable’ or ‘green’ themes, but they all are set to benefit from the same growth drivers to the economy, namely – population growth and the rise of the emerging markets.
To provide the user with an easy to use comparison Worldwise Investor have provided benchmarks, prefixed with the term ‘WWI’. These provide the user with an instant performance comparison for each of the funds relative to its peer group. It is also simple to filter the fund universe in the fund library, by region, theme, asset class and ethical screen to reduce the fund universe to a user’s specific requirements.
Holden & Partners have developed Worldwise Investor as a natural progression to the four years they produced guides to Climate Change and Ethical Investing. It would not have been possible to do without our six key partners – Cheviot Asset Management, Pictet, Henderson Global Investors, Schroders, Sarasin and Ecclesiastical. These Investment Houses are all keen to ensure that this market is clearly explained, correctly categorised and measured. To help with this process all of our partners can contribute directly to the site via our content management system, to provide updates on their specific funds, but also on the investment market and themes.
“We are supporting WorldwiseInvestor.com because it helps put our funds into a market context, while giving investors and IFAs control over the information they receive and need, to do their job effectively.” - Paul Gaston of Pictet Asset Management.
“What I find exciting about this are the regular news updates and email feeds from one source which put environmental and ethical investing on a par with other financial communications. This will help investors and advisers to factor these issues into their investment planning to a greater extent than they do today.” - Brigid Benson of The Gaeia Partnership.
