A close working partnership is particularly important for Absence Management, to ensure that employees stay in touch with their managers and managers have the information they need to make resourcing decisions. There is considerable evidence to demonstrate that a proactive, business-focused occupational health service can have a considerable impact on employee productivity and sickness absence management. This can lead to significant cost savings, with improvements to productivity and reduced absenteeism. Abermed works with clients to provide a comprehensive Sickness Absence Management service allowing the control and reduction of sickness absence. Sickness absence advisory and support covers short term and long term absence cases; recurrent short-term sickness absence; recent injury (providing opinion on prognosis and fitness capability) and management referrals i.e. – fitness to attend a hearing or management meeting, advice on employee or work environment stress etc. The service is designed to support HR/Management through the early evaluation of sickness absence cases. Abermed will provide clear and unambiguous reports and provide an opinion on fitness to work; we do not ‘sit on the fence’. Abermed can provide an efficient proactive service by implementing an effective triage system, ensuring the right clinician at the point of referral and the timely sickness absence management, to identify where an employee may be able to undertake alternative duties, or the most effective rehabilitation process to return them to work as soon as possible. The service includes: Occupational Physician and/or Occupational Advisor Case Management (remote or face-to-face consultations) ,One-off Consultations , Ill Health Retirement Assessment ,Fast Track Access to Care (Physiotherapy / Counselling etc) and Rehabilitation Abermed’s absence management service is delivered by a team of dedicated occupational health specialists including Occupational Physicians and Occupational Advisors. This service can be tailored to suit client’s requirements and can be delivered remotely or ‘face to face.’ Employees may be asked to make a phone call to the Absence Management Team on the first day of absence, and the employee’s symptoms will be discussed and advice given. Where agreed with the client, referral to additional clinical services will be made, and employees may be directed to specialist support services such as physiotherapy or use of specialist counsellors.
