There are two different methodologies that can be employed to whiten your teeth. We urge you to consider both before making a decision as to which is right for you. The team at our dental practice would be happy to explain the various pros and cons of each in detail so that you can make the most informed decision possible. In-office Teeth Whitening – Our in-office teeth whitening treatment provides immediate results and requires just an hour of your time. During in-office teeth whitening treatment at our London practice, a whitening agent is applied directly to the teeth. This agent is then activated through a process known as thermal diffusion; a heating agent is applied to the gel to improve the efficacy of the whitening process. Typically, this process is completed in five 10-minute cycles. At the conclusion of this treatment, which is pain-free, fast, and effective, your teeth will be eight shades whiter, or more. Though it usually isn’t necessary, we can use the NuCalm™ non-sedative calming system to alleviate any anxiety that you may have regarding the treatment. Take-home Teeth Whitening – The take-home method is designed for individuals who want to whiten their teeth from the comfort of their own home, on their own time. Whereas the in-office treatment can produce noticeable results in just one hour, typically at least one week is required for results to manifest themselves in at-home treatment. A whitening gel and tray will be prescribed to the patient. Instructions on usage, including the frequency and duration of usage, will be provided by our dentists. Wearing the whitening tray while at home, individuals can enjoy whiter, brighter teeth without having to commit to an extended dental appointment at our office. Both of the teeth whitening treatments available at our London practice have their merits. Choosing the treatment method that is right for you really depends primarily on personal preference. Are you looking for immediate results that can be completed over an extended lunch break, or do you figure you’ve waited this long, what’s one more week?
