With the recast in the methods of accessing data and information, businesses are finding it hard to manage the large data sets that keep splurging in. The conventional methods of database managements and data processing are meeting their threshold limits soon, making capturing and storing more difficult. Big data usually include data sets with sizes beyond the ability of commonly used software tools to capture, manage and process the data within a tolerable elapsed time. The ‘V’ characters Big Data acquires the following four characters- Volume: Huge Volume of data flows within multiple sources such as Web, IT infrastructure and mobile devices. Variety: Structured (Data from RDBMS and tables) & Unstructured (Data with no format from random sources). Velocity: Digitalization has enhanced the speed of information exchange. Value: Importance of data to business. Quality Assurance can have a pragmatic role to contribute since we are dealing with large data which will definitely have corrupt data and other issues of poor quality. However, absence of required knowledge about ‘what to test’ and in ‘how much to test’ is pushing the organizations in adapting false techniques that ultimately leads to abusive increase in costs and poor quality in production.
