“A TEAM is a small group of people with complementary skills, who are committed to a common purpose, performance goals and approach, for which they hold themselves mutually accountable.”
Sounds pretty simple and straightforward. So why do so many teams fail, experience conflict and often achieve results that are far less than the sum of the individuals.
We live in a fast changing environment where demands on both individuals and team can feel overwhelming. As this pressure increases, rather than work collectively, team members often put their heads down and focus on individual task completion. They loose sight of team goals, with no time for coordinated activity or shared best practice. Individuals become incredibly busy, but not always doing the right things. There may be duplication of roles and tasks, lack of challenge as to what is being done and even conflicts between individuals.
My specialism in this area assists in both the achievement of team goals and the development of the individuals within the team. Thus ensuring that the output of the team is far greater than the sum of the individual team members.
