We’re equally proud that this support doesn’t dictate our customers must slavishly adopt the bleeding edge; iTrain continue to provide training and consulting expertise back to v5 of database. We recently worked with a customer who had RPT 1.1 skill needs! Central to this commitment is our aim that iTrain’s valued customers know iTrain, as their preferred training partner remains able to support their Oracle training needs however diverse. With more customers now planning for Oracle 12c we asked our Oracle Core Technology Team to highlight a few Oracle 12c new features in Oracle’s core programming languages SQL and PL/SQL and outlined them below. Details of iTrain’s 12c courses can also be found below: Oracle 12c SQL:– · Oracle 12c SQL for End Users · Oracle 12c SQL · Oracle Databas e 12c Introduction for Experienced SQL Users · Oracle 12c Report Writing Oracle Database 12c offers a variety of enhancements to the way you can define and execute SQL program units:– In Oracle Database 12c Release 1, SQL SELECT syntax has been enhanced to allow a row limiting clause, which limits the number of rows that are returned in the result set. In Oracle Database 12c, you can now use the .NEXTVAL attribute of a sequence to create a default column value. In Oracle Database 12c, you can now create a default column value not only when you use the DEFAULT keyword or leave the column entirely out of the INSERT statement but also when you set the column value explicitly to NULL. The Oracle Database 12c release increases the size of VARCHAR types from 4,000 bytes to 32 K, bringing the SQL VARCHAR2, NVARCHAR2, and RAW datatypes in line with their PL/SQL counterparts. Oracle Database 12c includes support for the ANSI-standard FETCH FIRST/NEXT and OFFSET clauses—together called the row limiting clause. This clause enables you to easily retrieve the first N records from a result set or, alternatively, the first N records after skipping over a set of records, so you can easily paginate through a result set. Oracle 12c PL/SQL:- · Oracle 12c PLSQL Programming Oracle Database 12c offers a variety of enhancements to the way you can define and execute PL/SQL program units:– The Oracle Database 12c release increases the size of VARCHAR types from 4,000 bytes to 32 K, bringing the SQL VARCHAR2, NVARCHAR2, and RAW datatypes in line with their PL/SQL counterparts. Oracle Database 12c enhances the PL/SQL function result cache, improves PL/SQL execution in SQL, adds a whitelist, and fine-tunes privileges. With Oracle Database 12c, you can now define PL/SQL functions and procedures in the WITH clause of a subquery and then use them as you would any other built-in or user-defined function. This feature enables me to consolidate user defined function and a query into a single statement: As of Oracle Database 12c, you can grant roles to PL/SQL packages and schema-level procedures and functions. Role-based privileges for program units enable developers to fine-tune the privileges available to the invoker of a program unit.
