The Association of Building Engineers (ABE) CPD committee early January 2010 elected Corporate Building Engineer Cliff L'Aimable to the position of  Chairman of the Southern Regional group to help steer training programmes planned throughout the south east of the England. This was followed later that month by the much respected London District Surveyors Association (LDSA) recommending L'Aimable to accept a committee seat within it's education steering group. The assembled LDSA members gathering at London's Guildhall accepted his appointment with the recommendations of the current LDSA President Robert Hunter-Jones.  The earlier ABE vote was unanimously accepted at a recent AGM held by the Association in London earlier this January 2010. L'Aimable over the last few years has advocated the use of  web based learning toolsets as well as promoting the use of studio produced films to support his unique presentation style being currently used in his lectures both in the UK as well as overseas where he produces and scripts his work in a Docklands Based film production studio. The Association of Building Engineers (ABE) is the professional body for those specialising in the technology of building.

  • Founded in 1925 under the name 'The Incorporated Association of Architects and Surveyors', the ABE provides the prime qualification Building Engineer, a title that exactly reflects the professional expertise of members and one that is readily understood in the European Union and beyond.
  • It has a wide-ranging membership, drawn from both within the United Kingdom and overseas, and enjoys freedom from constitutional restraints. These advantages combine to give it a unique independence and breadth of influence, with consequent national and international recognition of its qualifications both in the public and private sectors and in the construction industry at large where it is represented on educational, codes and standards, legislative, technical and other advisory bodies.
  • There is an active Regional structure and a Fire Safety Engineering Group
