Chris Lewis, BACPAccred.
I provide both short and long term personal counselling for individuals of all ages. I offer a confidential and supportive space for you to explore your thoughts and feelings and work through the difficult issues in your life. I will work with you to gain a better understanding of yourself, your situation and your relationships with those around you and help you to find your own answers to problems and make choices about your life.
My approach is integrative, which means I draw on a range of counselling models (including person centred, existential and relational) to find a way of working which suits your needs. If you would like to work in a creative way beyond simply talking I can facilitate this, and you can bring drawings, dreams, poetry and music to sessions if this is helpful to you.
Training and Experience
I am a BACP Accredited Counsellor/Psychotherapist and UKRCP Registered Independent Counsellor/Psychotherapist. I have a postgraduate diploma in Integrative Counselling from London Metropolitan University and recently completed a postgraduate diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) at Royal Holloway University. I have also taken part in continuing professional development to develop my skills around a range of issues including substance misuse, anger and relationships.
Apart from my private practice, I work part-time for an NHS service with clients experiencing anxiety and depression. I have also worked for organisations supporting people with alcohol problems, young people, victims of crime and older people.
