Francesca, a chain of pasta restaurants, has come to Baker Street, in central London, with the opening of its first restaurant in the UK. People in the capital are now able to enjoy authentic Italian fast food: Francesca offers a range of quality, fast-food dishes (eat in or take away), with 18 fresh sauces and four types of durum-wheat pasta, as well as a variety of salads, antipasti, lasagne, panini, desserts, coffees and wine.

Francesca Albanese, co-founder of the Francesca franchise, sources top-quality ingredients directly from Italy, which she then transforms into 18 deliciously fresh pasta sauces that have a homemade style. She cooks them without any preservatives or artificial flavours, and some sauces simmer for more than five hours. This style of cooking stems from traditional recipes, which have been passed down through generations within Francesca Albanese's family.
Francesca Albanese is fond of flavours promoted by the cucina contemporanea Italiana, and her restaurants only use Pomi d'Oro tomatoes from the region of Naples (in southern Italy), extra-virgin olive oil from the Puglie region (also in southern Italy) and GMO-free products. All dishes are served with authentic Parmigiano Reggiano, which is directly imported from Parma, in the region of Emilia Romagna (in northern Italy).
Francesca's team has developed a fast cooking process that proposes al dente pasta servings that retain their flavour and nutrients. The four different types of durum-wheat pasta are served on plates, or in cups that preserve the heat for over 20 minutes. The takeaway dishes are served in insulated cartons.
Whether for dining in or taking away, Francesca's diverse menu will provide each customer with an assorted range of good and authentic Italian food. The menu includes antipasti, salads, secondi and desserts that are of the same superior quality as the pasta, as well as true Italian espresso — all at an accessible price. Besides, Francesca adapts its menu to the season, regularly adding new dishes.
The company ensures that a complete and varied range of meals are on offer throughout the day. The delicatessen area of the restaurant also allows customers to take Francesca flavours home with them. Created in 1998 and developed since 2004 as a combination of subsidiaries and licensed establishments, Francesca's network continues to grow in France and elsewhere, with outlets in Morocco and in Switzerland — and, now, in England. At the start of 2011, the company had over 80 restaurants, and it aims to have about 100 restaurants by the beginning of 2013.
In 1997, Francesca Arbogast-Albanese and Bertrand Arbogast decided to share their love of Italian cuisine by founding Francesca, a traditional Italian restaurant, in Strasbourg (eastern France). In 2004, the company chose to offer takeaway dishes to its customers, which is where the fast-food-restaurant idea originated. At the beginning of 2011, there were 81 restaurants across France and Switzerland.
