Stripping Stripping furniture, especially chairs, is a slow and laborious task. At least half of the items we are asked to strip have already been started by the owner, who has given in - defeated and tired. All the stripping we carry out is done by hand and will then need to be scraped, sanded and prepared prior to refinishing. Stripping should be considered a last resort, when the finish is worn or damaged beyond repair. Very few wooden items can be dipped in a tank - not something we do - and must be made from pine. All other dipped timber is discoloured and glued joints frequently eaten away. www.crawfordrestoration.com
