Pet portraits can be more than just a picture of your dog reproduced in paint. This painting combines two of my great loves, art and dogs. The beauty of a painting is you can put any elements you want together effectively, and this is where I come in with my bespoke paintings service. I like to work with the client through the creative process of producing a unique taylor made artwork. This particular painting is an English Bull Terrier with the ever popular Roy Litchenstein who has just had a massive retrospective at the Tate Gallery. I particularly like Roy's very graphic rendition of paint, which here is reproduced in oil paint, against my more traditional approach of the bull terrier. Some how the end result is almost 3D. The challenge is to match the right image of the pet with the right work of art, which is not always as easy as it sounds, and some times I like to put quite contrary subjects together, but it is not just modern art which inspires my portraits I also do more traditional settings, such as landscapes or interiors.
