We offer a basic toenail cutting service to people over 50 who are unable to cut their own toenails. As we all get older we can be faced with a number of conditions that make it difficult to reach our feet and cut our toenails. Poor eyesight, arthritis and the inability to bend and move freely are just some of them. Who is the service for? The service is for people over the age of 50 who are unable to cut their own toe nails. The service can only offer basic toe-nail cutting. Regrettably we cannot treat corns, bunions, fungal infections etc. In these circumstances we would suggest that you seek advice from your GP, a qualified podiatrist or a pharmacist. Where are we based? We have four clinics within the Enfield Borough and we will consult with you about what your preferences would be for your future appointments. Please note that at the present time we are unable to offer a home visiting service. Can anyone attend a clinic? We can only offer an appointment to individuals after their GP has completed our assessment form and it has been returned to our office. We then telephone you to offer you an appointment. It is very important that everyone is assessed by their GP before an appointment is made available. This will make sure that individuals are suitable for our Nail-Cutting service. Should the GP assess you as not suitable for our service, you may qualify for treatment from the local NHS Podiatry Service. Regrettably the Age UK Enfield Foot-care service is currently unable to accept people who are: Diabetic - type 1 - ON INSULIN Immune suppressed On long term steroids On anti-coagulants HAEMOPHILIAC HIV POSITIVE Experiencing circulatory disorders or NEUROPATHY How much does each appointment cost? The cost per person per visit will be £12.50 and most people attend every 8-12 weeks depending on how fast their toe-nails grow. (Price current at 01.12.12) How can I access the service? You can access the service by telephone, email or downloading the application form. You then need to give it to your GP to complete and return to us via the following address.
