Acupuncture is an holistic and natural system of medicine which has been identified as dating back thousands of years. The stresses of today's modern living conditions can place tremendous strain on any level of our health - physical, emotional or mental, and acupuncture can enable us to rebalance and restore through the insertion of very fine needles into points on the body. Within Chinese Medicine these points are seen as corresponding to various functions of the organs within the body, the mind and muscular-skeletal system. As it works with the body’s own natural innate healing energies it has been proven to be both safe and effective in the treatment of a wide range of medical conditions. The World Health Organisation has endorsed acupuncture for treatment of over 180 conditions, including; Depression, anxiety and stress Chronic pain, back pain and arthritic pain Insomnia IBS and other digestive disorders Migraines and other types of headaches Skin conditions such as acne and ezcema PMS and menstrual problems Asthma and other respiratory disorders High blood pressure and circtulatory problems Infertility and pre- and post-natal support Hay fever and other allergies Withdrawal symptoms from addictive substances such as alcohol & nicotine In addition to this, acupuncture is deeply relaxing and many patients commonly report back that they feel an overall renewed sense of vitality and vigour for life, alongside an improvement in the symptom which prompted the initial visit. This is the beauty and potency of acupuncture, that it affects your whole being, and it's this improvement in your overall sense of wellbeing which is often as important as improvement in the symptom itself. Very importantly, the style of Acupuncture I practice gives equal precedence to all levels of your health, whether it be physical, emotional or mental with the need for free flow to be apparent on all levels of our being for optimum health, and an imbalance in any one of those aspects of us can also negatively impact the others. Many of my patients report back that they feel much more energised, inspired and creative, as acupuncture can help to return us back to a more natural and optimal state of wellbeing. When I diagnose and treat I look for areas of energetic stagnation or blocks that can be as much internal, on the emotional and mental levels, alongside what may be happening in the more physical sense. See also my testimonials and blog. So as well as seeking help for physical problems, many people come with stress-related disorders and the effects of mental and emotional conflict in their lives. It is safe to use alongside conventional medicine.
