Over £10,900 raised by City professionals for Help for Heroes

On 17th September, over 100 financial services professionals and ex-servicemen and women joined ranks at New Broad Street House in order to raise money for Help for Heroes.
Major Phil Packer, despite being told he would never walk again after an incident in Basra last year, has recently climbed El Capitan and walked the London Marathon to raise funds for rehabilitation programmes and resources at Headley Court. At this evening reception, he attempted his most nerve racking feat ever – presenting to friends and colleagues of Venturehaus! Phil’s determination in the face of seemingly insurmountable odds, coupled with his ever-present sense of humour, ensured that what he had to say did not fall on deaf ears. Thanks to his heart rending presentation, the attendees donated huge sums to the cause, totalling over £10,900.
This amount was aided by an auction of some very special prizes donated by various companies, from restaurant dinners, to signed shirts and books, to sporting event tickets. The generosity of everyone present was clear for all to see as the amounts were raised higher and higher. Steve McDowell, Editor in Chief of Interactive Investor, handled the jostling and barracking with an expert auctioneer’s hand, ensuring that every prize achieved its full worth.
The evening was organised by Venturehaus but could not have happened without the generous support of many other companies and individuals who all gave their time and resources for free so that every penny raised could go direct to the charity. Our sincere thanks go to Interactive Investor, New Broad Street House, Balls Brothers, Tastes Catering, Jellyfish Creative, Gorkana, Cad and the Dandy, London Wasps Rugby club, Knologo Ltd, Gow’s and the Football Association, as well as many individuals who contributed their time and effort to make this evening a true success.
