This course covers learning how to use the sewing machine, right from threading up the machine to sewing, how to measure yourself as well as how to understand the glossary on dressmaking patterns; the correct use of ironing tools and the over locker; different seams, hems and darts, zips and buttonholes as well as bindings and facings. We will finish with some tips and tricks of how to cheat and/or make difficult looking things much easier. This is the beginners guide to dressmaking, at the end of the course you will have a portfolio of the basic skills you need to go off and try out the dressmaking project that you want to!
Note: you will NOT be making a dress in these 6 sessions but learning all the skills involved in making basic garments.
