Embroidery: Monograming and Whitework
Little Hands Design Cic
adult courses, Embroidery Classes
In this 6 weeks course you will learn the beautiful technique of monograming and white work embroidery.
Whitework is embroidery in which the thread used is the same colour as the fabric used. This was traditionally white linen, but it can be any colour you prefer! You will learn how to transfer your monogram design onto your fabric and how to use an appropriate stitch to a desired effect.
There are two techniques of whitework embroidery you will learn: Broderie Anglaise and Richelieu. Both use cutwork which needs a pair of small embroidery scissors.
Once you get familiar with the stitches, you will then work on your designs. You can monogram just about anything, so please bring your tablecloth, your linen, your shirts…anything you like!
Items you need to bring with you: lap frame and small sharp embroidery scissors, can be purchased here - http://www.barnyarns.co.uk/Classic-Seat-Stand-with-8-20cm-Fixed-Hoop-pr-26618.html
