CRB identity checks

As the Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) and the Independent Safeguarding Authority (ISA) are merging to create the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) There will be changes introduced of checking staff who are eligible for the Enhanced and Standard checks. The changes will affect the eligibility of who will be entitled to the checks will be scaled back to “A Common Sense Level” and these changes will affect 5 million applicants across the UK. The checks will still be available for particular posts that will fall under the category of “caring, assisting and supporting” vulnerable groups of all ages or roles that qualify for professions requiring the checks, ie, Legal, Security, finance etc. The new checks will, from 1st December 2012 become DBS checks. The checks that will be affected will be Enhanced and Standard only. The procedure of applying and completing the forms will not change and you can continue to conduct your applications with Criminal Records Services Ltd. Please log on to or you can contact our team on 01942-609365 to request paper application forms or to register with us free of charge. If you are concerned about existing paper application forms you may have, you shouldn’t worry as these forms will still be in use until 1st February 2013. After this time, you will need to request the new forms and we will be happy to send out the very same day for your convenience
