The Penwortham Gala is a yearly event which takes place in June. The event lasts for a whole weekend and includes a procession on the Saturday morning, followed by stage performances into the evening and much much more. Our first year of taking part, in 2012, was very wet and miserable and yet the crowds were fantadtic. We only took part in the procession that year. This year, we not only danced in the procession (as best we could whilst trying to keep up with the leaders), but we also danced in front of the stage area. The weather was glorious with the sun blazing down on us. It was very tiring and the crowds seemed rather subdued this year, probably from the heat, but it was enjoyable all the same. Look out for us next year - I'm already planning!
